Gainesville Campus hosts 23rd annual math tournament

On Saturday, April 1, the University of North Georgia's (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾) Gainesville Campus will host the 23rd annual math tournament, featuring individual and team competition.
More than 140 students from as many as 18 schools will attend and compete in a range of subjects, including calculus, trigonometry, geometry, statistics, and algebra.
The tournament is open to students currently enrolled in a two-or four-year college that offers a two-year mathematics degree and who have never been enrolled in any 3000 level math courses. High school students taking college courses are also eligible.
There will also be student poster sessions from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Keynote speaker Thomas Hartfield, associate professor of mathematics at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾, will also address students during lunch, which is included with registration.

Campaign aims to raise $71,000
The RISE giving campaign has returned this fall from Oct. 7-31 in the hopes of raising $71,000 for 17 scholarships.
Nine selected as Gilman recipients 
Nine °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ students were chosen as Gilman scholarship recipients this spring, four more students than the previous year.  
Supplemental Instruction receives pair of awards
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ earned the Exemplary Veteran Supplemental Instruction Program award. Dr. Clay Kitchings, assistant dean and associate professor of mathematics, also won the SI Campus Champion award.
Students earn research experiences nationwide
Seventeen °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ students secured the chance to participate in National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates or similar opportunities this summer.
