°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ receives $10K to use for scholarships

Sawnee Electric Membership Foundation (EMC) awarded the University of North Georgia (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾) $10,000 for student scholarships.
The scholarships will be used to help high-achieving students who are not currently receiving HOPE Scholarships pay for college.
Last year, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ awarded five scholarships of $2,000 each, which aided veterans enrolled at the Cumming Campus.
The mission of the Sawnee EMC is to assist in strengthening the communities served by Sawnee EMC by providing financial assistance to selected charitable organizations through the Foundation’s Operation Round Up program. These funds, along with monies from other organizations, allow donations to students, schools and various organizations located in parts of Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, and Lumpkin counties.
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾'s Cumming Campus opened in August 2012 with more than 500 students. The campus now serves nearly 1,000 students, offers basic core curriculum and general education courses, as well as master's degrees in business administration and teaching.
Chancellor launches Ethics Week 
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ will host the annual Ethics Awareness Week from Nov. 4-10, starting with a virtual panel hosted by USG Chancellor Sonny Perdue.  
New initiative could save lives
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ Public Safety is participating in a program managed bythe Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce and Northside Hospital Forsyth to place AEDs within 4 minutes of every citizen in Forsyth County.
Faculty member Broad passes away
Dr. David Broad, a University of North Georgia (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾) professor of sociology, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Campaign aims to raise $71,000
The RISE giving campaign has returned this fall from Oct. 7-31 in the hopes of raising $71,000 for 17 scholarships.
