Second round of CARES funds disperses Feb. 14-19
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ will disperse the second round of federal funds, HEERF II (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ CARES II), Feb. 15-19 to eligible students who have an exceptional need due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The University of North Georgia (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾) has been awarded another $6.8 million through the federal Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) to continue to support students who have an exceptional need due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
"We understand this additional federal funding will not be sufficient to address all of the hardships °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ students face. Still, we hope that the various resources provided will help reduce the burdens faced by students and their families," said °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ President Bonita Jacobs. "I appreciate the patience of all of our students, faculty and staff as we continue to navigate this unprecedented journey together."
Last year, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ set aside $6.8 million in federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding to provide °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ CARES grants to eligible students currently enrolled who experienced educational disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The second round of HEERF II (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ CARES II) funding is not the same as the first grant program. The new funding requires emphasis on students with exceptional need due to COVID-19; therefore, there are different eligibility requirements. In addition, students enrolled in all online classes, who meet the other eligibility requirements, may receive HEERF II (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ CARES II) funds.
Students who received °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ CARES funds before may not necessarily receive funds this time due to more strict eligibility requirements.
Eligible students will receive automatic grants of $200 to $500. The funds will be disbursed automatically to eligible students Feb. 15-19, but students must set up a refund preference. Failure to set-up a refund preference prior to Feb. 12 may cause a minimum 14-day delay in receiving these funds.
Students who are facing specific hardships may apply for up to $700 in additional assistance through the HEERF II (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ CARES II) Emergency Grant.
The funds may be used for COVID-19-related expenses and disruptions as allowable under the stipulations of the federal HEERF II Act (i.e., housing, utilities, food, technology, books, supplies, transportation, gas, and insurance).
As funding remains available, similar grants will also be available to eligible students who continue their enrollment into summer semester.

Chancellor launches Ethics Week
