U.S. News ranks °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ online programs

The University of North Georgia (°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾) earned high marks on multiple lists when U.S. News & World Report released its rankings Feb. 6.
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ ranked fourth among public universities in Georgia on the 2024 list.
The University of Georgia, University of West Georgia and Kennesaw State University ranked ahead of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾, with °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ ahead of Georgia State University, Columbus State University and Middle Georgia State University.
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ also ranked fourth among public universities in Georgia on the list. The university was tabbed seventh among Georgia public universities on the list. °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ was eighth among Georgia public universities on the list.
U.S. News compiled the rankings based on engagement, expert opinion, services and technologies, faculty credentials and training, student excellence, and peer assessment.
"We are pleased to receive this recognition," Dr. Chaudron Gille, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, said. "°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ has strategically invested in developing quality online degree programs in order to provide opportunities for working adults and learners who are place bound or need flexibility in their schedule to advance their educational and career goals."
These rankings come on the heels of °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ tying for 17th among public Regional Universities in the South in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings released Sept. 18. In more specialized lists for public Regional Universities in the South, among Georgia universities, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ was No. 1 on the list of Best Colleges for Veterans; No. 1 for Least Debt, which measures schools whose students graduated carrying the lightest debt loads; and No. 3 on the Best Value Colleges list.
One of the state's largest universities, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ serves more than 18,000 students across its five campuses in Blue Ridge, Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville, and Oconee County, and online. °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ offers more than 100 programs of study, including certificates, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, and doctoral programs.
Student, faculty member create bridge rendering
A student and a faculty member in °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾'s Department of Visual Arts have partnered with the City of Dahlonega to create a rendering of a pedestrian bridge that will be built soon.
Enrollment jumps 6.7% for 2024-25
Enrollment has jumped to 19,298 students this fall at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾, growing by 6.7% from fall 2023.
Institute for Peak Performance launches
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ launched the Institute for Peak Performance on Sept. 21, bringing together the efforts of the Cadet Leadership Academy, Athletics Department, and College of Health Sciences & Professions.
Scholarships help prepare educators
°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ and the Consulate General of Mexico in Atlanta are providing scholarships to 14 °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ students of Mexican or Latinx descent, with recipients primarily in the College of Education.
